UNISON is the Christian and Religion society of University College Roosevelt. We want to provide a platform for discussions about Christianity and Religion and life views in general, but most importantly we want to provide evenings where all students feel safe and included in the society.
As UNISON, we aim to fulfil the position of being an academic and spiritual centre for people who practice or are interested in religion. The organized events are intended to bring together people to find insight through discussion and the exchange of ideas in light of our academic backgrounds. UNISON means in harmony and thus shows that although many members may be Christian, it is open to all students of UCR. UNISON is not exclusive, but rather a welcoming/open community, where people with interest in Religion and Christianity unite. As St. Augustine once put it: “In necessariis unitas, in dubiis libertas, in omnibus caritas.”. Loosely translated, this means: “In necessary things unity, in doubtful things liberty, in all things selfless love.” This summarizes what UNISON is about. We unite in faith, accept our differences, and above all, we want to share our ideas and views.
The main events include; discussion nights, bring and share dinners, tea talks, guest lectures, joint events with other societies and film screenings.
